“I love volleyball. It’s so fun. You make lifelong friendships. I have been playing volleyball since 5th grade. My teammates really make the sport, especially my high school team. It’s a really fun environment and during the season we are all very close. My favorite memory is beating Hall High School, because it was the first time we beat a double L school. We were all so excited after the game. That’s what is fun about our team, the bus rides after a win are never dull. I enjoyed being a captain this year because I got to mentor the younger kids. Along with the high school, I play for a club team. Club volleyball is less serious, but the coaches are harder on you. But in High School we are practicing everyday and it can be a bit more intense. I think I might continue my volleyball career. Maybe intramural or club in college.
“I also play tennis. It’s a lot different from volleyball. One main aspect that differs is the individual aspect. Volleyball you are all on the court working together to win, but in tennis you just have to push yourself to win. In volleyball, I love the team aspect; celebrating after a point or coming together on what we have to fix. I think team sports are important for learning collaboration and teamwork.”
