“I think I love theater because it takes a lot of creativity and I love being creative and I love bringing a show to life and watching other people’s reactions to it.
“Currently in the theater, my official title is assistant technical director which displays how far I’ve come.
“For people wanting to join the theater, just go for it. I was really scared in the beginning but then it became something that I love. If you’re considering it, just show up. Everybody’s very welcoming and we’ll take you in.
“The people that graduated before me inspired me the most in theater. I was able to see how much they were able to accomplish and how welcoming they were to me and to be able to be that person for other people. I also think Mrs. Taylor, the director, and Owen Theberge because he convinced me to join theater and helped me become more comfortable being a member.
“I think a part of finding my motivation in theater is the people because I’ve made so many great friends. Also the satisfaction of having a show and seeing that because it makes me very happy.
“I have achieved my biggest goal for the year of getting into UCONN and my other goal would be to keep going strong and not get burnt out by the end of the year.
“As a senior now, for underclassmen I wish I knew to take better advantage of my time and plan things a little better because senior year gets very busy so I suggest finding things that you’re interested in when you’re younger and staying with it, like theater. I’m also learning sign language. I’ve been learning sign language since I was two and that’s something I want to incorporate into my future.
“I would love to do something within theater in my future because that’s what I’m going to college for, Design and technical theater program at UCONN. I would love to be stage manager or sign language interpreter for shows.
“Though, if I could trade lives with someone, I would love to switch lives with someone who does something very different from me, like someone who is good at sports.
“I would like to be remembered in Canton High School by my connection to people and how I’ve helped other people, not just in theater. ”
