“I first got into photography around 2 years ago. My family always had a camera growing up and I was really interested in it, so I just always used it. My dad then had a project with a camera company, so I ended up just getting a free camera out of it. Also, where I live, planes would fly over my house, so I became really interested in those planes and began to take pictures of them, and that’s what brought me into photography.
“I always liked flying growing up, and since those planes always flew above my house, I just took pictures of them with my family camera. In the past two years, I started going to the airports to get even better photos, more up close and personal, that have turned out even better. You can go look on my instagram @max_wire68 to see what I mean, there has been great progression of my work, that personally I am really proud of.
“My photo taking and editing process isn’t as rigorous as you would think. For example, when I take pictures of planes, I always have a specific spot I always go to that has good lighting that allows me to get a crisp looking, clear picture of the planes. When I take photographs for the basketball and soccer teams, I find what I personally call an “action moment”, which could be a player shooting a jump shot, or shooting the ball in soccer. I anticipate when those moments are going to occur, and then use the burst mode feature of my camera to take a bunch of pictures that will inevitably result in a couple clean, cool looking shots. It usually takes around 50 shots of that moment, so then I am able to analyze each one and determine which shot has come out the cleanest. I then transfer those shots I take on my camera onto my home macbook, edit them, and then either post the planes on my instagram, or send the sports pictures to the players.
“My most memorable moment in my photography career was when I was at Seattle’s airport where I got a picture of a plane with a mountain in the background, and that was definitely the most unique, and the most memorable shot to me. It came out very clean, and there was really such beauty in how all of the different factors worked together, making it super memorable to this day.”
