GABBIE MARCUCCIO, staff writer

My name is Gabrielle Marcuccio, and I hate it. Sometimes I tell people my name is Gabriella, because there is something about the a instead of the e. People often ask me what I would rather my name be, upon which I would consult my list of noteworthy names that I’ve saved over the years. Regardless, it has always seemed strange to me that our names — which are the very basis of our identity — are not chosen by us. Perhaps I’ll take a pen name.

I am currently a senior at Canton High School as a full time remote student. Outside of school, I like to make art, and I run a tiktok account (@ knockoffguccipurse) displaying some of it. I somehow managed to amass about 19.5k followers, but I actually hate posting videos. I’m currently passionate about topics such as disability rights, spirituality, mental health, and youth empowerment. I am also fascinated by language, and by the arts as a revolutionary and transformative force.
