Late Fall, Early Winter
By Jeanne Bedard
Halloween is over
shocking
costumes dusty, uncertain if they’ll be worn again
pumpkins and gourds frigid because they don’t have hats and gloves
the first frost greeted them
and by the first storm they’ll be buried
New England winter and all its iterations
all its temperatures
it visits and is not invited inside
